Hawks won! Which is good and made for a good time.
I am ready for bed now..
Pillows? I haven't gotten new pillows in probably 6 years now... Very sad actually. Will be getting some new ones in a month or so. After I'm married.

No no, I got them at the start of college. She has her own pillows that are newer than mine. 6 years ago was not jr high school. I am older than that thank you very much!
Supposed to get some more rain and some storms tonight. Looks like we might get hit.
Just got back from my parents. Went over for dinner then my dad and I went fishing for a bit. Caught some nice sized bass. Always fun to fish.

I was joking!! (I know how old you are)....but yeah new pillows and such for a new place is always a good idea!
we had rain, it is raining, and is supposed to continue to rain tomorrow....no fishing here.
been spending time looking at old census records for my dads side of the family (got everything about my moms side as she kept good records)...not finding out much about his mom other than a date of birth, a very strange birth certificate (filed 33 years AFTER she was born!), and very little about her dad (got a really bad copy of a draft card from ww1, but the info is so fuzzy--not much is read-able on it). So I have been trying to make out addresses, sometimes I wish they had lived in a small town instead of a huge place like chicago. (and heck, they even renamed and renumbered the place too )
Think I may need to get a new pair of glasses after I get done looking at these things!

New place, ya that would be nice. Just hope she finds a job soon. And it was late, my joke meter sucks when I'm tired.
Rained here this morning and then has cleared off for a bit. So I went out for a walk. Nice to get some exercise.
Jeez, I don't ever want to have to do that stuff for my family. Though I think my grandma has kept pretty good records.

yeah, my mom and her mom-in-law didnt get along so my mom really didnt care about learning about his side of the family and since my dad died in 84 (I wasnt at the age of caring about that kind of stuff), I had no one to ask. My oldest brothers wife is doing a lot of work on this (she is scanning all the old photos which is what started this whole thing)...but she doesnt have as much free time as I for looking thru 1000+ pages of microfiche (good thing they have them online...I hated microfiche back when I had to use it in libraries, made me ill even back then).
Only thing I am finding is people moved A LOT (have 4 addresses for my grandfather from 1907-1926!), no 'family' home there!!
yeah, my moms family I can even go and visit overseas...they still live in the same place in sweden with tons and tons and tons of relatives (grandpa had a HUGE family--like 13 kids!!)...so no problems there (mom even went back and visited when I was a kid).
I would suggest even if you dont care now to ask both sides of your family about their history--easier when they are alive than years after they are in the ground (someplace...still no idea where my great-grandparents are burred!!)
oy!

Ya luck. Maybe there, other places, not so much.
Rained a lot this morning, but not last night. Thank goodness. Cause last night was interesting...
Was watching the Blackhawks game, which was my only plan for the evening besides having dinner with my family. About 9pm my fiancee called, she was driving back from her parents so I figured she was calling to tell me she was home. I was wrong. She was fairly hysterical asking me to come get her because her car lost "parts" and was shooting sparks. Of course she is 30-40 minutes away from where I am at. So I jump in my car and speed out to help her, all while trying to figure out what to do, who to call if we need to tow her car, and thinking about repair processes. When I get out there (25 minutes later) some of her sisters friends (and ours too) are already there. I look at the car, and here is where some luck comes into play, it turns out it is just the tire. She told me a few miles back it became hard to steer (which meant the tire went flat) and then eventually something flew off and sparks started coming out (the part where the tire fell off the car). We are along a fairly busy road, at 9:30pm at night. Here I am changing the tire and putting the spare on after filling it up (with the air compressor her parents got me for Christmas! talk about a great present!). I get it on look at the old one (she bent the rim...) and get everything cleaned up. Then I drove her car (I made her drive mine) back to her apartment while doing no faster then 45 mph. We got it back safely and no one was hurt except our wallets since it is going to be about $200 to get a new rim and tire put on. Could have been worse though. Ended up not getting back to my place until 11:45 that night. Missed the rest of the Hawks game but scored points with everyone since I took care of everything. Thus my very interesting night...

I think that is the longest post you have made in OT
(congrats!!)
yeah, sometimes things we have in the car are actually useful...and glad things worked out well (and that you dont have school now do you?).
and yep, had flat tires before...never bent the rim though--guess I have been lucky on that one! (am now looking for everything wooden to 'knock' on!).

lol Darn close probably...
Ya I finished school on Friday. So I didn't have anything to be up for today, thankfully. Her tire came completely off because she kept driving on it after it went flat. So now we get to deal with that.

tires and rims can be replaced, she is alright=priceless!!!! (sorry too much tv )
think you need to spend some time with her (she is probably wigging out from all the stress now anyways!), spending time with the man she loves would probably help her out (yeah, you already know that!!).....and just say, 'cars and stuff can be replaced, I am just glad you are ok!'

Ya it could have been worse if it had been a blowout. That could have sent her flying off the road...
I'll be spending lots of time with her starting tomorrow. We go back out of town on Thursday for more wedding stuff, so all weekend then. We are taking MY car and I will be driving, though I don't think hers had anything to do with her driving.

lol....but she probably wont mind you doing all the driving!
had some more nice rain come thru...and its still on the books for the next few days, so yes, they are out painting the railings of the balconies---after which they will probably paint/seal the balconies (this if of course the opposite way they should since they have to climb over the railings to get onto the decks which will still be wet--I live on the 3rd floor and they are not painting from inside my unit!). Stupid Stupid STUPID people!
(and yeah. all the trees are blooming, pollen is everywhere--so the painted parts are going to look like we tar and feathered them!)
really gotta get outta this place soon.

She always falls asleep when we drive up. Which is fine. I just play my music and let her sleep.
We are supposed to get some more rain today and through the weekend.
Sounds like your apartment folks talk with my fiancees apartment folks. Lets say we are going to power wash, and then not. Oh and then we do! Ya... They have done some other stupid stuff that I can't remember off the top of my head. Just dumb.
You are ready to get out of your place and I'm in the process of trying to figure out where to go next. Still waiting on her to find a job so we are not sure where we are going to be after the wedding. She has this apartment through the end of June, and I have mine till whenever (no contract there). We would rather move here since I have less stuff to move but apparently they already put in her months notice a month ago or so, even though she isn't moving out until the end of June. So we are hoping that we can get them to pull it since it is over a month away or that we can find another place in the same complex to rent that maybe is a bit bigger so that we only have to move her stuff to a different building instead of to a new town. So we will see I guess.

I think all condo/apartment assssociations are alike--stupidity at its highest. (I am just waiting for the thunderstorms to start to see if they continue to paint in the rain!).
Yeah, after they powerwashed the next day they cleaned the gutters out ONTO the nice 'clean' balcony /facepalm
I guess to be on asssssociation you take an iq test and if you fall below 70 they let you in!
ah wish I could sleep in the car--used to be able to, but once I learned to drive it all ended, now I usually stay awake because my brain cant get around the idea that someone else can drive (though with the idiots out driving these days-----)
so I usually do all the driving (gives me something to do on trips) --which is fine when I travel with my hubby as he hates driving.
apartment hunting....kinda like yeti hunting, so hope you find one!

Sure sounds that way... They definitely don't pick cream of the crop workers...
My fiancee seems perfectly okay with falling asleep while I'm driving. Guess she trust me or something. o.O
We actually got a call back from her apartment complex telling us that we are able to stay through July in her apartment. So hopefully in July she will figure out where she is going to get a job and we can go real apartment hunting! But we have a place to live for a while after the wedding.
Speaking of which, just got back from getting our marriage licenses. Pretty painless process and I knew all the answers to my questions! Go me!

yeah, they have made it pretty easy now to get a license...no blood tests any more (did away with that even before I got hitched...perhaps rr can give insight on that one--).
good to hear you dont have to honeymoon and then move right when you get back, moving is a pain (only have ONE more move planned for my future!)...and apartment hunting can get very frustrating! (when we moved to idaho for hubby's grad school--there was less than 4% open housing, which meant that if you didnt act quickly--you didnt get to even SEE the apartment before it was already off the market! One of the places we were looking at did that--we had a time (that day) to go and see it, when we got there, they said it was already rented out!!!).
no painting today--rain! and more rain for tomorrow...though sunday might see some sun !!!

You're right about that cosy. We had to have the blood tests back in 73. With my dislike of needles and blood I almost fainted. I hear some bad storms are heading through the Midwest, stay safe.

Ya it was just answering some questions and making sure all the info was correct and away we went. Easy as pie.
It will definitely be nice not to have to come back to moving. We will have to move some stuff back to my parents house because they were just loaning it to me. Of course that stuff never would have fit in her apartment since it is only a one bedroom. I will also be donating a lot of my clothes that I don't wear anymore to help conserve some space as well.
Have had some bad storms as of late, but nothing that has spawned tornadoes luckily. More storms expected this weekend then I think it clears off for a week or so.
